Biography
AL BERNSTEIN: Al received his Masters from the Actors Studio MFA program in New York where he studied intensively with theatre’s top coaches such as Arthur Penn, Ellen Burstyn, Susan Batson (Black Nexus), and many more. Al hails from Toronto, but lived in NYC most of his life where his training began at Circle in the Square with Jacqueline Brooks, Terry Hayden and Alan Langdon and moved to Uta Hagen’s HB Studio with the gifted Carol Rosenfeld. Film/TV credits include: Nip/Tuck, Everybody Hates Chris, How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days, Godsend, Cursing Hanley, John Boxing John, The Briefcase, The Happy Couple, Showtime’s Street Time, Sue Thomas FBEye, Doc, The Series. Off Broadway: The Interrogation, The Dance of Chance, Have You Heard Uncle Dan Sing? (Circle in the Square). Off-Off Broadway: Will (written by Al Bernstein), Machine Head (Theatre Studio), Port St. Joe (The Actors Institute) Los Angeles: 2011 LA Weekly award winning Best Musical, Best Musical Director, Best Director, Hoboken to Hollywood (Edgemar Centre for the Arts), Acts on the Edge (ETG), The Sunshine Boys (Odyssey Theatre Ensemble with Hal Linden and Allan Miller). Toronto: Abu Ghraib Triptych (World Premiere), Red Light Winter (Alley Theatre Workshop), plus many more. Today, Al works as an actor, writer, producer, director and teacher (UCLA) in Los Angeles.
