Veronica Cartwright heads up a terrific cast in this classic comedy/mystery. Written in 1920, and helmed by Drama Critics Circle Award winner, Martin Speer, the play concerns a maiden of sixty, who rents a home where mysterious things are happening. A large sum of money is missing and all involved assume it's hidden in the house. Numerous characters are after the money, including The Bat, a sinister and notorious thief. "The Bat is one of the few mystery stage plays to have the dense plotting of a Golden Age detective novel. Moreover, the formal properties of the stage medium are completely interwoven with the mystery plot, to form intricate, beautiful patterns of plot and staging of dazzling complexity". Mystery*File
