Biography

Dan Berkowitz is a writer/ producer/ director based in Los Angeles. He has produced and/or directed more than 75 plays and musicals, and more than 150 cabaret revues. His writing for the stage has been produced off-Broadway, at major regional theatres, and in college and community theatres across the United States and Canada, and includes A… My Name Is Still Alice; Miami Beach Monsters; There’s No Place Like Hollywood!; Tables for Two; Skirting the Issues; Simply Divine; Pretty; When Oprah Says Goodbye; and Crime and Punishment: The Musical. Dan was, for seven years, Associate Producer of television’s The David Susskind Show, winner of 20 Emmys, and went on to write, produce, and/or direct pilots, commercials, TV and radio promos, and corporate and educational videos through his own production company, ICI. He served as principal scriptwriter for The Movie Channel’s hosted format with Robert Osborne, and was for a year Senior Story Analyst for RHI Entertainment, a division of Hallmark. Dan is Co-Chair of The Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights; former LA Regional Rep of The Dramatists Guild of America, the professional association of playwrights, composers, and lyricists; and a script and production consultant and performance coach.
