Biography
Active in the So Cal theatre community for 18 years, Mr. Blanco has appeared in various roles on stage and screen. He has performed for a variety of theatre companies in California such as the national touring troupe, Traveling Lantern, and the acclaimed guerilla theatre troupe, The Bad Puppets. Featured on radio and television, his solo production The Stories of Cesar Chavez has reached not only general theatre audiences internationally but continues to provide educational outreach throughout the country. He has worked with the LAUSD and L.A. County Office of Education bringing theatre into classrooms for many years . In juvenile halls nationwide Mr. Blanco demonstrates the power of art and provides students who are incarcerated a forum to discuss social issues that are relevant to them . In addition to his theatrical show, The Stories of Cesar Chavez, he speaks at colleges as Chavez for the Chautauqua lecture series that is featured around the country. Blanco was proud to take it to theatre festivals in Canada for the first time in the summer of 09, earning him BEST OF Fringe in London Ontario, and the prestigious BRICKENDEN Award for Best Touring performance in London. He has brought it to the beloved Chicano theatre,Su Teatro in Denver, CO and The National Hispanic Cultural Center, in Albuquerque, NM., just to name a few. Mr. Blanco most recently finished a full summer tour in 2010, with runs in Hollywood, Boulder, and Minneapolis, receiving BEST OF Fringe for his performance at the San Francisco Fringe Festival. He is currently in residence with the show at The Sacred Fools Theatre in Hollywood, CA and looks forward to another busy season.
