Biography
LARRY EISENBERG is an Actor, Writer, and Director. Originally from New Jersey, he first came to Los Angeles in 1976 to work with the Los Angeles Free Shakespeare Company at the John Anson Ford Theatre. He received his MFA in Directing for Theatre, Video and Cinema from the California Institute of the Arts.. He has directed off-Broadway, in regional theatre and locally in Los Angeles. He received a DramaLogue Award for directing the world premiere adaptation of Isaac Bashevis Singer’s Stories for Children at the Hudson Theatre. Last year he was appointed Co-Artistic Director of the Lonny Chapman Group Repertory Theatre where has directed numerous productions including Over the River and Through the Woods by Joe DiPietro, Horton Foote’s The Trip to Bountiful and most recently Dion Boucicault’s 19th century melodrama, and most recently Dion Boucicault’s 19th century melodrama, The Poor of New York. He wrote and directed the play, Nautilus, at the Group Rep, which began as a one-act project, then went on to become a full-length mainstage production. It was eventually turned into a feature film (Fish Don’t Blink) starring Lea Thompson and Dee Wallace Stone and has been broadcast many times on The Movie Channel and Starz. He wrote and directed the short film, David Proshker, which won several film festival awards and has been broadcast on KCET.
