Description:
The award-winning Theatre Neo celebrates the start of its eleventh year with a new production of Theresa Rebeck’s hilarious glimpse into the world of sitcom writing, The Family of Mann. This biting comedy takes a behind-the-scenes look at the writing of a television sitcom as a young woman gets the job as a co-writer amidst a sea of hungry men eager to rip her to shreds. Not suprisingly, her television world soon descends into a ferocious madness. Ms. Rebeck states, “I had worked briefly in television writing for sitcoms in 1990-91, and I found the experience so harrowing I wrote a play about it, ‘The Family of Mann.’ The play was widely hailed as a ‘biting satire’; few people realized it was actually a documentary. That’s how crazy it is out there.”
