Biography
With more than thirty years of industry experience, Michael Bofshever is an accomplished actor, director, teacher, author and moderator. Michael’s acting career began at Boston University where he earned his BFA in acting. While at BU, Michael was cast in his first professional job in Al Pacino’s Richard III for the Theatre Company of Boston and a season of summer stock at the Tufts Arena Theatre. Upon graduation, Michael returned to his hometown of New York City where he continued his studies with the legendary acting teacher Michael Howard. With several classmates he co-founded the Actors Producing Company and honed his acting, producing and directing skills, while performing in everything from Moonchildren to Misalliance. He also appeared at Circle Repertory, EST, Emelin Theatre and the Actors Studio. Michael recently received rave reviews for his return to the stage as Philip Gelburg in Arthur Millers’ Broken Glass for the WCJT. Michael’s film and television career grew exponentially upon moving to Los Angeles with his family in 1987. His many film credits include: United 93, Housebroken, Certifiably Jonathan Winters, Dirty Deeds, The Fan, Crime of the Century, Rosewell and A Low Down Dirty Shame. A veteran of episodic television, Michael was a series regular on the hit Disney Channel show The Jersey. He has made multiple appearances on Private Practice, Breaking Bad, True Blood, The Shield, Desperate Housewives, NYPD Blue, The Practice, in addition to innumerable guest starring roles. He has also appeared in hundreds of television commercials. Michael is the author of Your Face Looks Familiar…How To Get Ahead as a Working Actor (Heinemann Drama Press), which is the basis of his seminar, The Journey of the Working Actor. Partnered with the Screen Actors Guild Foundation, Michael has conducted his workshop at union branches throughout the United States, various universities and acclaimed programs such as SAG Conservatory, Interlochen Center for the Arts.
