OVATION VOTER RECRUITMENT
2009-2010 SEASON
(For voters serving from September 1, 2009 to August 31, 2010)
Ovation Voter Recruitment occurs in three phases,
beginning in May and ending in late July each season.
PHASE ONE: INVITATIONS TO ARTISTIC DIRECTORS
Per the policies of the Ovation Review Committee, any artistic director of a LA Stage Alliance member theatre,
where that theatre has been in existence for at least three years and has produced at least three full productions in
the last three years, is automatically invited to become an Ovation voter. These Artistic Director voters do not have
to fill out a written application or interview with the Ovation Review Committee, and are only asked to commit to vote
on a minimum of 10 productions during thier term (there is no maximum), instead of the 25 that all other voters are asked
to commit to seeing.
Invitational emails to these artistic directors and companies are sent in the middle of May by LA Stage Alliance staff.
Artistic directors who wish to become (or remain) voters for 2009/2010 must confirm by July 17th, 2009.

If your organization would qualify to have an artistic director voter, but you don't have an artistic director, then a
representative of your organization can recommend up to two voters to be considered in Phase Two by emailing their names
and email addresses to Ovations@LAStageAlliance.com
In the 2008/2009 season, 92 voters (out of 260) were Artistic Directors
or members of the Ovation Review Committee.
PHASE TWO: RECOMMENDED OR RETURNING VOTER APPLICANTS
During Phase One, all artistic directors of LASA companies, whether they personally decide to be a voter or not,
are asked to recommend one or two other artist as prospective voters, who are invited to submit applications in Phase Two.
LASA staff contact these 'recommended' voters with a special application via email, which the applicants must submit to
LA Stage Alliance by June 5, 2009.
In addition, current Ovation voters who are not artistic directors, and who wish to renew as voters for 2009/2010
would be included in this phase. All current Ovation Voters should be contacted with a Renewal Application by May 15, 2009.
If you are a returning voter, and you have not received a renewal email and application by May 15,
please email Ovations@LAStageAlliance.com
In the 2008/2009 season, 105 of the approved voters (out of 260) were Recommended Applicants, considered in Phase Two.
PHASE THREE: SELF-SUBMITTED NEW VOTER APPLICANTS
The final stage of voter recruitment is the evaluation of applicants who submit themselves for
consideration to join the Ovation voter pool. These applicants should download the following pdf application
and submit it to LA Stage Alliance by Friday, June 26, 2009.
